What you will be doing

This position is responsible for overseeing Branch operations in the Region and promote the smooth and efficient running of branches. This leadership role will provide advice and guide staff as required to maximize efficiency of branches operations without compromising customer satisfaction. In the absence of the Branch/Regional Branch Manager (B/RBM), this role will be responsible for making decisions and will have responsibility for staff.

LEADERSHIP/COACHING

Responsible to lead, coach and develop all internal staff at the location.

Promote our company Customer First- Employee Drive and ensuring that the team in the branch is supporting, demonstrating and exemplifying it.

Motivate and inspire the Branch Team to be fulfilled and happy to be on the Gerrie Team

Develop a standard work schedule. 

Ensure all Gerrie documented policies and procedures are adhered to.

Responsible for vacation and sick coverage for the branch and scheduling to ensure proper and adequate staffing levels. 

Collaborate with B/RBM and Sales Team lead (if applicable) for additional staff requirements.

Ensure and promote a positive and motivating culture and stand for the company.

Maintain a professional and positive attitude and never disparage the company, management, employees, vendors or customers. 

Maintain open communications with the staff and B/RBM

Ensure timely completion of tasks as requested by B/RBM, or Executive

Manage in coordination with B/RBM, monthly staff meetings and ensure that the agendas are prepared, and the minutes posted in a timely manner. All action items should be assigned as appropriate. 

Assist B/RBM and provide input in the annual employee performance evaluation process and identify training for internal employees.

Maintain confidentiality of Gerrie Information

Assign duties as required for a smooth operation of all operational functions in conjunction with the B/RBM (i.e., reallocate staff to help in shipping/receiving, counter, cycle counting etc.). Approve, as required, time and attendance information for all time and attendance users.

Create and work with Teams on (i.e., Continuous Improvement, Lean).

Transfer material from Gerrie Distribution Centre or other branches as required to meet customer requirements.

Work with other Operations Supervisors as a team to improve efficiencies in the company.

SALES AND MARKETING

Participate in the Budgeting Process with BM/RBM

Responsible for a select number of accounts.

Handle customer orders as required.

Enter, maintain, control and review contracts and special pricing agreements in conjunction with the B/RBM

Treat customers in a professional customer excellence manner

Ensure staff adhere to the Gerrie commitment of “Quality Service.”

Provide technical and process assistance to the inside sales and counter staff.

Provide price, stock and delivery information as required. 

Ensure company specials are supported and promoted by the counter and order desk and Account Managers and organize training on the promo’s if required.

Ensure the promotions and products are fully displayed. 

Participate in designated marketing planning activities as directed by the B/RBM i.e.: Field Marketing Summit.

Responsible for coordination and execution of the branch related activities i.e.: counter days, staff training and local customer events (BBQ’s)

Ensure counter displays are neat, organized, current and clean.

Support and promote the use of the web and mobile app. 

QUALITY

Quality Representative for he Branch(s). Responsible to ensure all material is stored properly and in the correct bin location. 

Responsible for all ISO procedures and documented Gerrie Policies and ensure that all are followed and adhered to by Branch employees. 

Assist B/RBM in planning special customer events (i.e.) BBQs, Training etc. 

Handle all aspects of the branch as required when the B/RBM is absent.

Maintain scheduled commitments to customers and vendors.

PURCHASING 

Understand and be knowledgeable in the purchasing process for local branch(s) and be able to assist as required.  

When and where necessary, prepare and issue purchase orders to various suppliers.

Ensure Backorders are filled.

OPERATIONS & INVENTORY CONTROL

Ensure smooth operations and functions within the branch.

Review stock regularly for damage and obsolescence and ensure handled on a timely basis.

Review defective stock and watch for repetitive trends and ensure handled on a timely basis.

Responsible for the cycle count process and ensure they are conducted regularly, and that variances are investigated and resolved. 

Responsible for the inventory reassign and recall process and provide information to Purchasing in consultation with the BRBM. 

Responsible to ensure all vendor returns are done correctly and on time. 

Assist/manage the annual physical inventory.

Responsible for all operational reports such as Open Order Status, Cancelled Orders, Open Purchase Orders, Inventory adjustment report etc. that they are investigated, well controlled, completed and accounted for

Ensure all credits are entered daily and are approved daily per company policy/procedure in collaboration with the B/RBM 

Responsible for vendor issues that affect operations, escalate to B/RBM or Central Purchasing Manager a required. 

Responsible for daily cash/credit card/debit/cheque processing and that they are prepared accurately, completely and signed off daily. Responsible to ensure the bank deposit is taken to the bank at least weekly and fully. 

Analyze flow of operations in the branch(s) to pinpoint any possible bottleneck areas and implement new strategies to promote better/faster response to customer needs.

Ensure goods are delivered to the customers in a timely manner, expedite and process orders when necessary to ensure a high level of customer service and satisfaction. 

Responsible to ensure monthly safety audits are conducted and required safety practices are adhered to, i.e., tow motor inspections and circle checks and ensure issues are dealt with. 

Responsible to ensure all property, facilities and equipment are in good condition, functioning and safe – including the interior and exterior of building such as weed control and snow plowing and shoveling for safe access for staff and customers. 

Responsible for overseeing and controlling non-conformance/Improvement tool issues and responding to them in a timely basis. This includes forming Continuous Improvement Teams for 5Why and Short and Long-Term actions and updating the Improvement Tool on a monthly basis. 

Responsible for and ensure criteria in the “Branch Inspection Report” are adhered to and provide thorough follow up when not in compliance.

Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.

What you bring to the table

Post-secondary education (degree, diploma/certificate), preferably in an Electrical related discipline or Business Administration or equivalent related experience 

Minimum of 5+ years Operations experience at a senior level (Electrical industry preferred)  

Must have knowledge of best practices in Operational Leadership and Operational knowledge (product, company, policies, etc.)

Experience developing and leading employees is required.

Ability to think strategically (i.e.) market and competitors.

Exceptional communication skills, including both written and verbal, listening and ability to give feedback.

Ability to understand the needs of the company, customers and the company’s financial performance.

Additional proven skills required: strategic planning, decision making, time management, vendor relations, and continuous improvement implementation.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on strong Excel skills
